The twists and turns in life are what make it interesting.  If it was a straight path, you’d get trapped in monotony and boredom.

Take for instance this past week has been a whirlwind in my life.

It started when I attended an important meeting earlier this week.    I learned someone I used to know just landed a job earning 25k more than their last job.   That is certainly a blessing from the lord.

Then as the week progressed and people everywhere were talking and sharing the implications of changes in our lives… well, you find that life is just full of twists and turns.

Sometimes you think the worst of situations when they are actually blessings in disguise.    It’s all about perspective I suppose.

Later in the week things became face paced as those twists and turns arose.    In my life you get so used to twists and turns that you learn to anticipate them and you find you’ve become adept in handling them.  Imagine a car drifting flawlessly through a turn making better time as it comes out into a short straight away or another turn.   I’ve become that car you might say.

Later in the week it was supposed to snow.    We took a gamble and moved up plans by a day and beat the snow storm.  In fact instead of losing a day, our weekend started a day early.    Because of anticipating this turn, our group was able to start the weekend Thursday evening, not Friday night …or even Friday morning.  It was a great jump.   I was twice as happy I took a turkey out of the freezer to thaw a day early.  Friday’s dinner was a feast.

Saturday was yet another twist.  Yet it was another positive twist.   I reported to my managers interview for little league, knowing that I should be prepared for anything, even a more important job.     No longer was I the guy that reported for a meeting, hearing or appointment expecting it to be for only one purpose.     So as I sat in a chair with a twenty man panel surrounding me in a U shaped inquisition, I was ready.   I won’t say what happened. Let’s just say it’s going to be an amazing little league season for my boys.

Then Saturday night…   once again planning for anything paid off.  Even if it was for just the little things in life.  Saturday night was our annual covered dish dinner and remote control race car races for church.   My son won this year (nice trophy) and his little four year old brother finished in second place ahead of seven other children twice his age!  I have the video to prove it! J   Josie (not her real name) won the newly created “ladies” division and surprisingly took home her own trophy! LOL    It was a fantastic day.  PS: Note to Josie… your dish was a big hit and your photo in the church bulletin can bookend my last year’s bulletin in my scrapbook! J

Today.. was the final twist.  It has to do with my home, but let’s just say again… planning and covering all my bases has made it a positive ending to a once tragic story.

I suppose in the end it comes down to this.  You can plan for anything and be screwed up by unexpected twists and turns.  But if know what you are doing, if you are a good person,  if you don’t lie, don’t cheat, and don’t operate from an emotional platform such as anger or hate, you will find that as twists and turns come into your life you will drift through them like an agile race car coming out of a turn.
