ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lars Hindsley is a self-employed single full time father, a writer, a non conservative Republican, a reformed idealist (a compromisationalist), ex-musician, God fearing cynic that could more easily be described in two words as a "Rugged Intellectual".

Lars writings range from "how to" articles to commentaries and advice. You'll find movie reviews and video picks of the day side by side with serious writings.

Lars offers perspective from an Anglo-Christian moral position while never lording over anyone unlike himself. Lars is of the opinion that if you are going to complain, you should offer a solution. His perspective on the world is that many of us fight societal evolution to frustrating ends without a genuine understanding of what it is we are all up against.

Reading his articles should provide you with positive energy towards living out your day. You may not be able to change the world but you can navigate it to live a rich and rewarding life. Enjoy Lars’ works, there are years of writings to choose from.

View Article  Why I fear for my life

A person I once knew was married to a Russian mobster.  I was close to this person and when we parted ways, I was told I could be killed if I became enough of a problem in their life.

I recieved no less than two death threat phone calls last year.  My family constantly tells me to be on my guard.

There are times when I realize that I shouldn't take anything lightly.  When I read articles like this, I think I better watch out: http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1305269,00.html

My family and close friends know who I'm talking about.  If anything ever happens to me, or I vanish.  Please know that this person was responsible.

My memoirs on are my hard drive for my children.    Don't give them to my children until they reach legal age.

View Article  Text messaging blunders, mistakes and the embrassment

Have you ever text messaged the wrong person?  Ever heard of "textual harrassment" or "texting while intoxicated"?  If not, read on.  You'll get a kick out of this.

I first wanted to write an article only about text messaging the wrong person after learning I am not the only person having text messaged the wrong person.  I'll get to that. However this is a topic that goes beyond this one blunder.  So let's explore...

ACCIDENTLY CALLING THE WRONG PERSON

For me it all started when I acquired my first PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) phone.   These phones have large touch screens and locking software is frankly a pain in most cases.   Inevitably the phone would dial back in error anyone I was on the phone with last.  This happened from time to time and usually it was my wife.  WAS.  LOL.

Nooooo!  I never spoke to anyone I shouldn't be talking to, don't go assuming too much.  The only story there is that I was annoyed by my phone.  There is this one time when I was out to lunch with a friend from high-school, and old band buddy.  We were catching up at nice sit down restaurant.  My phone called my wife while it was on the table!  Later she told me, "You idiot, you left a 20 minute voice mail at my office!"    You'd think the joke ends there. She went on because she was angry, not pissed, but angry.   Yes ladies and gentlemen my wife heard me speak things she should not have heard.   And no I didn't speak ill of her.   I recall telling my friend that my wife didn't know me.  We were talking about how she angrily told me once she didn't want to know about my past life before her and I had to put all my photos of ...   more »

View Article  The Story of the Little Bird...

This is the story of the little bird...  The lesson in this story has helped me navigate life and the people in it.

There was this little baby bird that fell from it's tree in the cold of snow.    It starts peeping, "Pa peep! Pa peep!" as it was damn near freezing.

Along comes this cow.  She looks down at the little bird and feels sorry for it.   She raises her tail and... "splah!"

...She drops a steaming hot cow pie right on top of it.

The little bird starts again... "Pa peep! Pa peep!"  Because it's hungry.

Along comes a mean ole Coyote...  It reachs down easy into the cow pie and picks the little bird up.   He raises the little bird higher and brushes the dirt off him real nice.

And then... "Gulp!" Swallows the little bird down all in one bite!

There is a moral to the story but you have to figure it out for yourself...

View Article  Lars' Video Pick of the Day: Your Body is Wonderland - John Mayer

I realize every young twenty-something girl has an opinion on John Mayer now based on his youthful romantic charm.  I'm not one of those, LOL.  When I saw him live summer of 007 I was charmed by his down to earth nature.  That he's making the round dating starlets works fine for me.  It's his life to live.  He's no little boy and that he has the same one fear in life that I do, I think I get him.   My best memories of John Mayer are while skating in Central Park.  I can't wait to skate around again visiting museums and watching the world roll by.  Perhaps this song will be playin' ...

View Article  One of the Broken

There is a band that I have loved for such a long time.  Few rival their words in my opinion.

I'm speaking of a quirky band named Prefab Sprout.  I present to you this very heartfelt song. One of the Broken. It hails from an amazing CD, Jordan: The Comeback.  If I were on a desert island with a small collection of music to listen to for the rest of my life, this would be one of them.

One of the Broken is sung from the perspective of God.  Yes.  God.   It dances back and forth from God speaking to you and then singing to you.  The genuine passion and sincerity in Paddy Mcaloon's voice is perfect in its peacefulness.  This lyrical device is not so subtle when you decide to speak on behalf of God.  For God fearing men, you better be careful or at least hope God has a sense of humor.

But the message is so sincere.  In short God asks you to sing your song to one of the broken, and by doing so... you are singing to God.

What makes One of the Broken special is that you instantly believe that God could be having his conversation in this manner. You are listening and willing.   "It's not too far from here, come get up off your knees..."

Musically it is a contemporary hymn.   And you feel you are floating in that third heaven as Paddy laces in the harp.  The spiritual element is not wasted either.  It makes no bones about being a song for believers.

Hi, this is God here.
Talking to me used to be a simple affair.
Moses only had do see a burning bush ...and he'd pull up a chair.

Well it's been a long time since we've talked in that way
