Today was one of those days with the unexpected.   My son's and I get to the dentist for a routine teeth cleaning at 3:30 pm and don't get out of there until 7:00 pm due to my oldest son needing a root canal.  Now don't get down on me... The dentist assured me it wasn't my fault.  My boys both brush in the morning twice.  First before breakfast when they first get out of bed.  No toothpaste.  Again after breakfast before leaving for school.  They brush again before bed time.

I'm told that my youngest son has smooth curves in his teeth so brushing for him produces better results in removing plaque build up.  My oldest son... he leaves there today with a root canal and an arsenal of cleaning tools to be more precise in removing build up in the future.  It was heart breaking.

Meanwhile, my ex wife complains to me when I get home that I poisoned my son by having his teeth cleaned at a four month interval instead of six month interval.

Some days just seem to make no sense.  You suck it up for your children is what I have to tell you all.  My son was almost in tears watching my other son and I eat while he couldn't due to the shot he got in his mouth earlier.  Later he had soup but he was and is miserable tonight.  Pray for his comfort please.   I promised him ANYTHING he wanted to eat tomorrow.

If nothing else I really think he got a big wake up call to how serious I've been in pressing him to brush often.   In our home I don't allow soda, we lay off the high-fructrose drinks even juice.   For my boy to need a root canal is just blowing me away.  The dentist tried to re-assure me, but I still take this personal.
