Lars Hindsley is a self-employed single full time father, a writer, a non conservative Republican, a reformed idealist (a compromisationalist), ex-musician, God fearing cynic that could more easily be described in two words as a "Rugged Intellectual". Lars writings range from "how to" articles to commentaries and advice. You'll find movie reviews and video picks of the day side by side with serious writings. Lars offers perspective from an Anglo-Christian moral position while never lording over anyone unlike himself. Lars is of the opinion that if you are going to complain, you should offer a solution. His perspective on the world is that many of us fight societal evolution to frustrating ends without a genuine understanding of what it is we are all up against. Reading his articles should provide you with positive energy towards living out your day. You may not be able to change the world but you can navigate it to live a rich and rewarding life. Enjoy Lars’ works, there are years of writings to choose from. Recent Visitors

Stupid Headline of the Day
Wash Post: Bush's Baghdad Turkey Displayed, Not Eaten. I found this from the Drudge Report. My question to myself as soon as I read this was... "I care why?" I mean this is news? This is news to ANYONE? Not that a reporter or EDITOR should think about what real news is, but here is a message from the ground up. Tell me about something meaningful. That's it. Thats the whole gist of it. It's not hard to understand. It's not Einstien concepts here. Just go out and find some real news. The curious side of me tries to understand the logic in a news article such as this. What motivated a reporter to think this is news? What motivated an editor to consider this news? My two answers to myself are that it either politically motivated or targeted towards middle aged know it all moms. You know the type. They center their whole agenda around one issue. But that is another rant for another time.

Okay, Lars, here's the news behind that headline. That is an objective reporter's way of revealing to the readership that President Bush presented a huge succulent turkey bird during that Thanksgiving PR stunt, and then left minutes later.
The turkey was for the picture, and was consumed by neither the officers or the men! I've read this in journals like The Nation that make no claims of objectivity. What was the purpose of the turkey other than a superficial photo op? The Drudge Reporter showed remarkable restraint by not using all caps to declare "Bush Thanksgiving Turkey is actually ANOTHER SELF-SERVING DECEPTION of the American Public!" The soldiers in the background of the famous photos continued to eat a sort of processed turkey loaf, and both the big fat turkeys were wisked away. The Turkey PR stunt is actually emblematic of a regular pattern of failure to adequately support the men and women serving in the military overseas, particularly in Iraq. You would be appalled at the broken-down state of the weapons they have been supplied with, the complete absenceof the latest ceramic body armor inserts in many instances (ONE soldier without them is too many in my opinion), and the morale-busting shortage of basic necessities like water bottles, underwear, and various equipment clips, belts, and various hardware. The turkey is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this administration's practice of telling the American People one thing, and giving servicepeople the shaft. Re: Stupid Headline of the Day

Paul,
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear you were a rat fink Democreep. But I'm sure I'm wrong. No one has really hates our president. Only liberal media types. After all, most media writers are left, want everything their way and are such idealist that the world can go screw themselves if they disagree, after all the media writer has the power to say it and all you can do is read it. So if they write it, it must be true. I wonder where you got your facts on the Turkeys. And even if it was PR, that is so wrong? Flying into the country means nothing. It is really all about who ate that bird. |
