View Article  The Honor of Being A Parent

What is it like being a single parent?  It's not that hard.  It's never been hard for me.  I put being a parent first before all things. When I got married years ago, my wife knew one thing above all others.  If she made me choose between her and my son, there was no second guessing.  Perhaps this is the downside of being a single parent.  You and everyone around you knows where your top priority lies.

I'm a single full time father of two. This is an honor.  And every parent should appreciate the smallest of moments they have with their children.  I had to fight in court for the right to be my sons' father.  What does that mean to you?  It means that in my life, I had to fight in court just to be able to wake up in the morning and cook my children breakfast, or watch them brush their teeth at night.

If you are a parent and you have children and have not been in court to earn this privilege, I can say to you now.  I bet you never thought of how precious it is just to see them brush their teeth.  For me when my two sons argue and fight, I get annoyed.  But I'm also happy for them.  Happy they have that chance to needle each other.  So many parents take their children for granted.

Then take parents that have children and don't even want them.  This tears me up.  How these mothers and fathers can off their kids because they want to be single goes against all that is right with humanity.  I get very upset over these news pieces.  This is a subject so hard for me to discuss, that I won't.  I think of my own children and ...   more »

View Article  A rant about women and men

I have a bone to pick with women today.  Nothing major but worth noting.  I've learned something during my short life about women.  When a man has an opinion of dissension from a woman, it is often labeled abuse.  How convenient.  So for you men reading this, be wary of the traps you unknowingly fall into.

And for any woman I'm dating that may read this ... <smile>  I've got the backbone to know my opinion is not a form of abuse.  It may be wrong, it may be right, but it's not abuse.

Thankfully the women in my life are people I vet carefully and frankly I don't enter into relationships with anyone that is like the woman I describe above.  So for all intents and purposes, this post doesn't apply to the women in my life.

View Article  For once... The rich don't get richer: Largest Ponzi Scheme in History Collapses

Well, the headline says it all folks.  In this Times Online article, Wall Street Broker and former Nasdaq Chairman Bernard Madoff is about to (actually already has) screw countless New York socialites out of potentially everything they have.  Madoff had been pulling off a stunning years old Ponzi scheme that has reached over $50 billion dollars.  I don't care what era you are in folks, $50 billion dollars is a staggering amount of money to bilk.

What is a Ponzi scheme?  It's like a pyramid scheme.  It operates within the investment world where people hand over their money out of greed.  They are promised they will get an abnormally high return on their investment.  Many early investors do get a large return on the money they entrust to the perceived arbitrage because it temporarily succeeds by way of the pyramid scheme concept.  People early on get their money back as promised because ...    more »

View Article  Yes-It is the Automakers Fault Car Sales Are Down

Here is why. And first off, I'm not a liberal democrat, I'm not an activist. I'm an American that is no nonsense. With that out of the way, here is why it is the auto makers fault car sales are down. Key words... "auto" and "maker". Get it? You make the cars we have to buy. But guess what! We don't have to buy them? And as of lately, we have NOT been buying your same old same old cars. They still guzzle gass even at $1.70 per gallon. People are no longer reactionary, we are waiting for the shoe to drop again. No one wants to be stuck with a car that gets 18 miles to the gallon when prices go up again. Even if they don't, 18 miles or 22 miles to the gallon is unacceptable.

We have wanted and needed cars for years that can drive 40 to 50 miles per gallon or an electric car or other options than gas guzzling SUV's Mustangs and even Ford Taurus. Car dealerships are closing at a breakneck pace across the U.S.  I feel horrible, this is my country too.  And I'm really mad that for the past twenty years of my life I've read how the big three automakers and big oil refuse to make any car that does not use petro gas.  What a joke.

Well guess what guys...  You screwed us all.  You, me, everyone.  Sure the banks had a pyramid scheme that caused the credit collapse etc... sure commodities speculators drove up the cost of barrels of oil.   But you make the cars.   We had a truly viable alternative as long ago as 1996!

Has anyone seen Who Killed The Electric Car? It's a documentary about how an excellent option to gas was in our midst and how the oil companies and auto manufacturers used politics to repeal a law that forced them to make oil alternative cars!  During this time in 1996 the cars not only worked, they cost less etc...   Thank God companies like Tesla exist now.  If we rely on GM, Ford and Chrysler to deliver an electric car, they will never do it as long as they are beholden to big oil.

Goto the library or get it on Netflix or Blockbuster, but see the film.  It won't bore you. It will piss you off.  And if enough of us get upset, then FINALLY maybe this country will move in another direction.  Politicians can't change this country.  We have to do it.  We must want it.

These cars were among us!  Watch the film and you will be incensed at the big three auto manufacturers as you see the truth of why we are going RIGHT BACK TO GASOLINE.  Money!

The silver lining is companies such as Tesla that are funded by investors (owners of Google) are finally beginning to emerge.  Finally companies are able to stand up to GM, Chrysler and Ford to offer us cars such as this one in the video below.  And this car exists.  Yes Tesla is creating a high-end version first but they promise the money earned from the rich buying their Tesla sports car will then pave the way for family car production next.

And what is sick as that the U.S. population has been bled dry.  We have no more blood to give.   Big oil got rich throughout 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.  We paid for gas on credit cards, our home heating bills tripled and quadrupled.  It was nuts.  No one could buy anything except food and pay their rent or mortgage.  With credit maxed out and people unable to do any more.

Who can buy a new car when all their ...
