I used to listen to Stern a lot. I thought he had SOME funny bits. There was very little in talk radio humor so I tuned in. Over the course of a year I got tired of waiting for the funny stuff in between porn star interviews and and porn star interviews.
Then he got a TV show. I tuned in. It was funny again for a while. Then it became mostly the same bits again. Lesbian dating and women begging for boob jobs. I found other things to record on TIVO (digital video recorder).
My alarm clock is still set to Stern because I refuse to wake up to Bette Midler's "At a Distance" and Ben E King's "Stand by Me" every other morning. I'd rather give myself paper cuts and pour lemon juice in it. Argh. And a I have a good friend whom DJ's at that station too, I swear. So it is Stern for 10 to 15 seconds when I wake up.
Well ...Today I was checking out links from the Drudge Report (a politically charged news link site) and found one on Stern. This one: http://www.marksfriggin.com/news.htm#thu
As I read it I realized, "Wow, what a big baby. Something doesn't go your way and you go balistic on a polar opposite." This is also known as "Spin Doctoring."
Howard Stern decided President Bush's new ads for re-election are "tackey". Sorry, as I see it ...as anyone should see it what happened was terrible and it happened during President Bush's term. He has every right to reflect on that event with all of us in a respectful manner. We all came through it and it would be foolish to run a campaign where it is never mentioned or looked back upon. Most of what Bush has become during this presidency is because of that event. It has defined him. I know Stern see's that, he merely has decided to spin doctor. What makes it so obvious are the other things said at this web page where it recounts today's show.
For instance, Howard Stern went after Clear Channel in a big way. They are an easy target and Howard was dead on right in what he said. But what astounds me (actually it makes sense for him) is that where was he on this two weeks ago when Clear Channel carried him in 6 markets? Once they dropped him, his tune changed. Now that he is on the outside looking in, he has a lot to say. Big man.
Howard Stern is for kids and losers. Sure he can be funny as hell, but those moments are few and far between and not worth much of my attention. Do I hate Howard Stern? No. But I'm on record as saying he offers little in real entertainment.
The fact he was Spin Doctoring so hard today since his show is under pressure made me see just how selfish the guy is. I'll be tuning in even less than I do now.
