Never skate at Bethesda Fountain in the rain.  You could kill yourself.  I'm serious.  While I'm laughing in this photo... it was some scary stuff.  It's like skating on slime.  You ever step on a slimy rock in bare feet in a creek?  Imagine that and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Meanwhile some friends skating along snapped a couple of me hoping to see me take a tumble.  You'll notice I've already played softball and one knee pad is down as I'm trying to get my wound to dry up.  Even the weather was out to get me.  :)

The good news was that the rain didn't last.  Just a few minutes with the sun still shining.

Built in 1859, Bethesda Fountain is designed Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux.  The sculpture in Bethesda Fountain came shortly after by Emma Stebbins.  She named her center peice Angel of the Waters.
