From ska influence to out and out pop with an edge the tunes on this release are unbridled fun. The band makes no excuses for the commercial feel most of the songs embrace. Some songs like What She Does to Me, Certain Kind of Girl, and What's he Got? are true hits with a hook. Unfortunately the 80's provided us with so many incredible bands releases from the Producers really didn't stand a chance. You could call this music a guilty pleasure and enjoy every minute of it. Yes the sound is dated but not so dated that it sounds like a typical 80's synth band. No way. Wayne Famous (Producer Keyboardist and founder) would never have that. However because of Wayne much of the music regardless of guitar work is layered with keyboard or synth. But this is part of what makes the Producers The Producers.
I was truly happy to listen to this album when I was 18 (1983) and now at age 38 I'm still glad this band existed.
If you have NEVER heard of this band you must listen to What She Does To Me the guitar solo is gut wrenching. The guitar cries and you can feel it. It is a simple cord progression but the simplicity is what makes it so great. It just goes to show that great things don't have be complicated. This band epitomizes my point. Pop music from the 80's, guilty pleasure... Get it.
