Sometimes you write something so straight from the heart every word hits you with compounded emotion. The Risk was inspired by my deep desire to find a woman willing to be just as honest and romantic as I was.  I drew a lot of inspiration for this song from my church theology and from a movie called My Name is Nobody

From church I understood that believing in God and making that commitment meant you changed or "transformed".  You didn't "conform" to be a Christian, you "transformed" from what you were into someone new.  I applied this to love.  When you found someone to love, that perfect love, you opened up everything about you that no other person ever had access to.  It is a delicious risk you take, that if you really have found love, is no risk at all.

From the movie My Name is Nobody I drew off a line that title character "Nobody" said..."If the risk is little, the reward is little"  I took that line with me for a lifetime.  What a profound thought, simple and meaningful.

I present to you The Risk

So this could be love

After all this time

The risk resulted in reward

We’ve nowhere to go but forward

I will shoot this arrow straight and true

It will find the heart of me to you

And if a man is what he thinks of

I can guarantee you true love

I’ve told you all these hard words, receiving what I’ve said...

I believe you feel the same way because you haven’t stopped me yet

We risked it when we didn’t even know what for

Now it’s no risk at all because we know for sure

No need to try steal your heart, it’s mine

And any emotion you hide I’ll surely find

I will shoot this arrow straight and true

It will find the heart of me to you

And if a man is what he thinks of

I can guarantee you true love

Still don’t just hold the moment

Identity what we feel

If you ever once believed in love

Your risk’s not risk

That’s what you’ll feel

Even you believe in love now

Even you can see

That you conformed to the world

That you’ve now been transformed to believe

I need another inspiration just one more time

She waits

She waits in patience

But she won’t wait in line
