Watersliding!

My son was absolutely thrilled to get a green armband at the Y so he could go on the waterslide despite not meeting the height requirement. He took a couple trips and a few attempts to clear the pool and pass the treading water test and now he is set for the season. He is always proudly showing people his green armband as a badge of honor. Our Y swim classes paid off.

Safe at Home

I can't decide if I look cool or silly here. I'm running in sandles, LOL! All I know for certain is I was glad I had them in my pack when I joined the game! It's bad enough I scraped my knee earlier and blood was down my leg all afternoon.

This is the backend of a rundown I was in. I was really loving that. I recall teaching littlel leaguers the technique of being a runner in a rundown and how to execute it best. They say those who can't do, teach. I'm not that old yet.

This play started when a team mate hit a ball soft down to third and I figured I'd try to distract the third baseman and get the runner safely to first. They picked me to play with and from there I had fun. If you check out the next two photos... you'll see I made it safely home. I didn't know it but I drew a crowd on this. Thankfully with all eyes watching I was safe.

I love Central Park in the summer. I always make a number of new friends. Those friendships always pay dividends in life. My point is get out there and live and you won't regret it.

After the game we went to Blondie's on 79th and Amsterdam. I skated over of course. A great bunch of people.

Bloody Hit

Here you can see the blood on my knee. During my first at bat I was rounding second and had no realized my sandals couldn't support me. I came down gracefully on one knee but it gave me a nice big strawberry and began to bleed for the next two hours. I was pissed. I mean here I am skating and wearing knee guards and never a problem. I play softball for three hours and now I can't wear one pad because of the cut. Grr... I had to avoid the hotel pool after that and began the two day process of drying out my cut. I haven't had a strawberry in ten years. I forgot how aggravating they are.

Closing Pitcher

My son asked to be the closing pitcher... with that came a great responsiblity. He seemed to know that because in a tough season ending loss, he was very sad for hours. It took some time for him to recover and remember all the good far out-wieghed one loss.

A Hot Day for Catchers Gear

Last week was a serious heat wave. Good thing we had multiple catchers. My son here is just getting started his run at catcher for the day. Obviously the sun hadn't cooked him that gear yet. This was a play-off game and could have well been our last game of the season; fortunately we won and lived to play another day.

St. Anthony's Ferris Wheel

There were seven of us that went to St. Anthonys... the ride tickets were AMAZINGLY expensive. Five of us went on the ferris wheel and by my calculations we paid $20.00 as a group to go the ferris wheel. The kids were oblivous as we adults joked incredulously. My friend said as we got off... "It's our first down payment on our own ferris wheel." I laughed pretty good at this.

But hey! The kids gotta have fun!
