View Article  Which is Better Iphone or Gphone running Android?
It's An Operating System - Not A Phone

First you should know what you are choosing is not a phone as much as you are choosing an operating system or OS.  The term for these phones today is "smart phone".

The iphone uses Apple's existing platform OS X. This benefits users allowing the iphone to live in harmony with Apple computers. You don't need to install any aftermarket software to get the iphone to communicate with your computer, as long as it's an Apple computer.

Apple's core foundation of technology is that they own BOTH the hardware and firmware (operating system). Both are integrated at production level. However buying an iphone is not so good with Windows products. There are workarounds, but that's another story. Apple makes one iphone, other than increased memory and upgrades Apple's phones are all iphones.

Next is Google's Android. It's the operating system Google created.  Many people ask the question, What is a G-phone or G-Phone?  The answer is simple. Any phone running Android is a G-phone.  So you could own a G1, G3 or any number of phones made by different manufacturers featuring Googles' Android, they will all be G-phones because they run Android. In short, a phone running Android is a G-phone.

Like Apple, Google has integrated their world with the Android phones and leveraged their strengths of Gmail, YouTube, Google and more to give the phone so much power. In fact if you buy a G-phone, you MUST have a Gmail account or create one in order to get through the start up phase of using a G-phone. There is NO way around it, period. Conversely iphone leverages their strength of itunes with their Mp3 player features (ipod) built right in.

If you use Gmail and most people do, this becomes amazingly cool, but we'll get to that.

Both Have Distinct Strengths

Convergence is a buzz term you should be aware of if you are not already.  For years we waited for someone to build a phone, camera, GPS, PDA, Mp3 player, and gaming system all in one device.  At one time PDA's (Personal Digital Assistants now known as Smartphones) like the Palm, Clie and Microsoft Mobile were the forerunners. The iphone and Android blew them into ancient history and are now the powerful front runners.

Yet both have their own strength. The iphone's strength is itunes as the iphone doubles as an ipod. Let's face it, when most people didn't even know what an Mp3 player was, they owned an Ipod. Go into a store, and they have Mp3 players segregated from Ipods, but they are really the same! In short, Apple set the standard for a great device with both perfect form factor and ease of use. Having that service in an iphone gives the iphone the big advantage in this area. The G-phone (Android) has an Mp3 player but it pales in comparison overall features.

The Android's strength is the power of Google pushing it along and that's a big push from a big world of resources. The buzz word for this is "cloud". Google owns Youtube, Gmail and more. You can ...   more »

The Secret to White Teeth

The Claim: You need to pay the advertiser for the secret to white teeth. Usually the claim is a mom discovered this secret for under $5.00. Well, it's true. And you most likely have it right in your cabinet now.

The Truth: Pay for the results and you'll be told to use EasyWhite and DazzleWhite Pro which are highly regarded as a scam operation if you visit many consumer activist sites. Many variations of the name exist and none are to be trusted.

The actual secret is Brush with baking soda and peroxide. It's not the brushing that whitens your teeth either; it's the exposure to these active agents. Two natural whiteners are carrots and strawberries. It's suggested to drink Tea through a straw but who does that? Just brush your teeth if possible after drinking tea or be prepared at day's end to brush with baking soda and rinse with peroxide.

Leaving the peroxide in your mouth longer allows the active agent to whiten however it will make your gums tender. Results are fast, just keep at it. You should also note that you don't want to actually BRUSH your teeth with baking soda. You want to apply the baking soda to your teeth with a brush but don't brush vigorously as it is abrasive and will remove the enamel from your teeth if you are not careful.

Stemulite - Natural Alternative to Steroids

The Claim: Ads and loaded articles explain that Stemulite is alternative to steroids (anything is an alternative to steroids). Stemulite ads claim steroids don't build muscle they blow it up, and it's not permanent. Not true. The ads also claim Stemulite uses natural muscle repairing ingredients to help the body repair the micro tears from weight lifting so you build ...   more »

In a recent high profile row, Ralph Lauren took flack for blatant outrageous Photoshopping of models.   But this has not reformed the industry.   Instead, magazines like W have simply decided to jam more false images of how people look down our throats.  After all, who is to stop them?Check out what it appears to be 36 year old Anja Rubik's superimposed body... scratch that - her body was attached to Demi Moores for the sake of a better cover image.    You have to wonder, did Demi even wear the same Balmain dress? There has to be an extreme effort to put forth to take a woman that is 47 and make her look like a woman much younger.   The answer may be beyond Photoshop, it could very well be full body replacement with the use of Photoshop.  Representatives from W claim 'nothing unusual' was done but of course that means nothing because Photoshopping is standard practice in the industry.  The blogsphere has gone nuts questioning if the photo is retouched.   This writer asserts the photo is both retouched with other significant changes. The story is evolving by the minute.  Demi being the high-tech tweeter has joined the fray and insists in a tweet:  Here is the original image people my hips were not touched don't let these  people bullxxxx you!I've always been a big Demi Moore fan.  I mean no disrespect in any way, there seems to be a great body evidence (no pun intended) that the body in her photo is not her.  Offering up a photo she received from W magazine isn't the same as the original photo before any staffer touched it.  Perhaps she can clarify this and put he matter to rest.  Until then, a lot of speculation will continue.  If nothing else people are ...   more »
View Article  The Best Paper Airplane You Can Fly Is Free - The Sky King: How to Make your own Sky King
We've all made a paper airplane, usually we have two choices.  The long jet, or the short stunt plane.  Neither flies all that great.  What if you could combine the two for a snub nosed paper airplane that actually flies GREAT!

(Aside from the instructional video below - the Sky King Instructional Diagram of at right is larger file, right click and save if you want larger printable image)

That's just what Takuo Toda of Japan did April 11th 2009.  His origami paper airplane design combines the best of various designs into a super airplane known as the Sky King. His invention was recognized in 2009 by Time Magazine as one of the year's top 50 inventions.  Toda  knows a lot about inventing a great paper airplane, after all he's chairman of the Japan Origami Airplane Association. "Since I was about 4 years old, I’ve been able to make really good paper planes and commit the steps to memory."  His ambition has resulted in the Sky King (a.k.a. the Toda Fold), a paper airplane which in April 2009 was flown for a record 27.9 seconds at a competition in Hiroshima. "I'd been trying to break the record for 11 years," said Toda, 52. "I finally got it." It's not Toda's only plane design, he has over 700 in his resume.  He's even got various paper airplane instructional books published.   He hopes one day to reach a flight time of 35 seconds which he has accomplished in practice.

Anyone that has ever tossed a hand glider paper airplane has hoped for longer flight time.  People have tossed paper airplanes off the anything they could climb.  As a kid who hasn't stood on a balcony or roof of their house and tossed a plane? Adults have thrown them off tall buildings.  There is an unconfirmed story in paper airplane circles that in the U.S. a paper airplane was thrown off a mountain.  The person drove drove a half an hour downhill to a lower parking lot and the paper airplane landed at the same time he arrived.

Takuo Toda's greater goal is to drop an airplane from orbit in space and NASA has approved it.  Still, Toda has some stiff competition in that area as Andy Chipling, president of the Paper Aircraft Association has already dropped a paper airplane from 7,000 feet which was performed from a hot air balloon high over Kenya in Africa.  He and the balloon operator were already at 5,000 feet above sea level so in reality they were 2,000 feet up.  Perhaps his toss from a para glider may have been more monumental.  What makes it special is those planes have survived the drop.  No one knows if a the planes dropped from the International Space Station will survive even though they'll be treated with a special glass coating to protect them in re-entering Earth's atmosphere.

Like the paper airplane you made as a kid, the Sky King is made of a single sheet of paper, which can be a your basic oblong notebook sheet or copy sheet (8.5 x 11).    You won't need any tape or glue either.

Fly it inside and you'll think, nice.  But since you won't have a flight-hanger to toss yours in, you may not get the same results as Mr Toda.  You may even think the Sky King is not much different than other paper airplanes.  Take it outside and it will really impress you.  You'll get long flight time results.   Here is a video of how to make the Sky King courtesy of Wired...   more »

(Halloween Photos 2007 - Complete Gallery - Are you In It?)

(Halloween Photos 2008 - Complete Gallery - Are you In It?)

(Halloween Photos 2009 - Complete Gallery - Are you In It?)

If you were in a photo and would like a hi-res copy, e-mail Lars@Hindsley.us

Loop night 2009 in most respects was like any other loop night.  Now you'd think that means same old same old.  Well, when it comes to loop night, that's not a bad thing.  Each year loop night promises the same old thing.  Strange costumes, intense characters, and as the night wears on, strange behavior that both amuses and surprises you.  For instance in just one case alone I had a girl take my phone call her number and tell me to call her, all this without knowing my name first; but I'll get to that later.

Now if you are not familiar with Loop Night, or the Halloween Loop as it's also known, here is a quick primer.  Each year Wilmington Delaware offers adults over 21 a chance to celebrate Halloween as only adults could.  It provides the entire city as a playground where for $10.00  you get access to free buses driving in an endless loop around the city where participating bars and restaurants provide musical entertainment.   The streets are filled with costumed inhabitants.  If you show up without a costume, you'd be a fool and feel entirely out-of-place.

The costumes always range from minimal to all-out.  You'll see a fair share of irreverent and risqué costumes through-out the night.  The men will fill out the irreverent category while the women opt for risqué.

On Loop night 2009 I spent most of my time in the Trolley Square area of Wilmington.  In this area you can evade the buses and walk between four locations.   Police cordon off the area to a degree and rarely is there an incident they need to deal with.

As I interviewed people about loop night, it became obvious that the longer the night wore on, the more I would see in terms of wacky behavior.  Oh and did I see some wacky people.

Early on I found an ensemble of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and interviewed them.  See that below.

It wasn't long after entering Kelly's Logan house that I got some female attention.  Now I'm not seeing anyone seriously at this time so I had no problem flirting, but here is a tip to all you men that may venture out to your first loop night in years to come.  If a girl doesn't give you her number, don't waste your time.  I found the floor riddled with phone numbers as the night wore on.  And even then, you can still find out the girl that you exchanged numbers with has a boyfriend etc... Again, stay tuned here. I'll get to a story on this very subject.  Standard protocol if you really want a number is she dials her number from your phone on the spot.   Pretty much the same as any night out at a club, the difference is on Halloween; behavior by both men and women is elevated to a much more erratic state due to the increased drinking.

As my night of capturing great costumes on film wore on, I realized I had not taken many of the standard, "sexy costume" shots.  Why not interview someone in one?  I hooked up with Cory O'Neal (Scandalous Cop) for a few minutes to discuss her experience on the Halloween Loop.

This year I have to say the wide variety was not there.  The repetition of costume ideas didn't help either.  This year I saw three full sets of Ninja Turtles, numerous Lady GaGa's which was to be expected and a few "Dick In The Box" costumes.  Last year a due pulled that costume off nicely, this year I saw a number of solo costumed versions.  Because the Phillies are back in the World Series, there were Mrs. Cole Hamels, and the Broad Street Bear.   Of course this year the award for most outrageous costume goes to Beau Garcia with his giant, larger than life... how do I say it?  Vagina.  I think the only real way to express the outrageousness of the costume is    more »
View Article  Texting Is The New Talking
It's cool, it's hip, it's here... Texting is the NEW talking!

It's true. Texting has replaced talking.  Sure it's common for teens.  Passing notes is a thing of the past.   For established friendships, it's become a means of commenting on life with no ill-effects.  For instance consider these inane remarks made amongst friends:

"Killed two birds with one stone: found my wallet and unclogged the toilet."

"New Moon trailer came on.  Theater booed.  I love these people."

"Hamptons in blackout. Send booze."

"Last night, my friend changed all my contacts in my phone. I have been texted by Batman, Donatello and Homione Granger.  I have no idea who they are, and it doesn't upset me at all."

"Have you heard of sleep? Cus I'd like to get some."

"I want to poop on a bird just to show them what it's like."

"You know it's getting bad when I wash the bong more than the dishes"

"How the fuck did you end up in Georgia?"

"Sex on bubble wrap = Best decision ever."

"Can you bring me a Starbucks skim vanilla latte?  No, I'm not gay."

In the lifestyle of short messages, text messages allow us to interact with friends in fun social commentary, but what many have been slow to realize is that text messaging has also replaced talking on the phone for daters.  Women are the agent provocateurs.  Almost every aspect of your communicating is limited to text messaging.  As a man, if you fight this, you will lose and be as uncool as a man could ever hope to be.  It's here guys. Learn it, accept it.   Accept the fact you will communicate without tone, you will articulate your most sincere emotions without ever coming face-to-face and  facial expressions will be replaced by emoticons, i.e.  :-) for a smile or  ;-) for a wink.   Your intellect will be lowered when you no longer spell the word "you" in a traditional sense. You'll substitute the letter 'u'  for the word 'you'  and you'll deem that acceptable communicating.

Now unless you are married or just not someone with a solid circle of friends, you know this behavior is now, wait for it... Normal.  In 2008 Nielsen reported that phone owners were out-texting phone calls by a number of 357 to 204 on average per month per user.  Another interesting point of the texting lifestyle is that people whom have adopted the text lifestyle limit themselves to a small circle of contacts cycling out those that do not text regularly with them.

DATERS BEWARE - DATERS PREPARE

What is perhaps most important to learn is that at some point early on, if you don't have some level of real personal contact, then your text message conversations will replace talking and allow a woman to hide behind the allusion of a real relationship where you will both face disillusion when   more »
View Article  Top Ten Ageless Beautiful Women
I've used the minimum age of 50 as a qualifier.  If you can hang out to outward beauty that long, you have beaten the odds.

#10 Nancy Wilson - Musician (Band Heart).  Born: March 16, 1954 Age: 55 (2009)

California girl Nancy Wilson (Born Nancy Lamoureux)  has maintained a fresh look, youthful hair and charm with ease.  Perhaps it's her on the go lifestyle minus the rock and roll pitfalls.  Nancy is still at it musically and while married to writer director Cameron Crowe she helped out on sound track work for his films.  In 2009 Nancy and her sister Ann published a children's book based on their 1978 album Dog & Butterfly.

#9. Sophia Loren - Actress.  Born: September 20, 1934 Age 75 (2009)

Who can forget how Sophia Loren sizzled on screen in films like A Breath of Scandal, El Cid and The Pride and the Passion. Sophia has an iconic look due to her exotic facial features. Her acting ability matched her chest which made her just that much more attractive.

Sophia was solicited to pose nude well into her sixties. A testimony in itself that she had truly aged gracefully. In 2007 she posed for the famed Pirelli Calendar.

#8. Jane Seymour - Actress. Born February 15, 1951 Age 58 (2009)

Jane has kept her signature cascading hair and ultra fresh face so long you can hardly notice she changed in age over the years. While she acted prior to the 70's it was her role as Solitaire in the 1973 James Bond thriller Live and Let Die that set her onto the international stage.

#7. Iman - Model. Born July 25, 1955 Age 54 (2009)

Iman (Means faith) Mohamed Abdulmajid is our only model (broke in 1976) turned occasional actress. Her flawless body and skin seem to ignore time completely. Born in Somalia the daughter of an Ambassador, she has become royalty in her own right and stands tall like a goddess. Iman has been center stage to many great admirers from Yves Saint-Laurent to David Bowie to whom she is currently married.

#6. Susanne Somers - Actress. Born October 16, 1946 Age 63 (2009)

It wasn't Three's Company where she made her big impression on men... It was American Graffiti. She was that girl.

It seems the years and her thigh-master have really been good to her. How many women can wear modern jeans at age 63? Susanne Somers can.  Susanne is vigilant about her health and shape and has written books and made countless videos on the subject along with some controversial statements about how we should all eat.   Whatever she does, she takes it serious for such a fun loving woman.

#5.Cher - Singer/Actress.  Born May 20, 1946 Age 63 (2009)

At 17 Cherilyn Sarkisian got an early start in the limelight in the musical team of Sonny and Cher, TV and movies followed. Now in her sixties Cher has aroused generations of men as seems to re-emerge every ten years looking more impressive than the previous decade.

#4. Jaclyn Smith - Actress.  Born October 26, 1945 Age 64 (2009)

Jaclyn started in dance but became an Angel to everyone. Jaclyn's dignified classic look is as fresh today as it was in 1976 when she broke in Charlie's Angels. She' since leveraged her self as a brand on and off the screen. She's had over 30 years of radiating staying power.   more »

Joss Whedon confirmed it on a conference call on Thursday. He says he may go with a bigger budget and more stars, if he does or not it won't change the storyline.   more »

View Article  Don't Be Twit on Twitter

Sometime in 2009 I took the plunge and joined twitter.  Of course I tried to understand what it was before I joined.  After all, I think of MySpace, Facebook and other social networking sites as potential narcissistic endeavors.   Twitter does have the same pitfalls, after all it's all about YOU.  Social networking is supposed to be about you AND others; staying connected and meeting others with like interests.

I believe that is why I enjoy the autonomy of a blog, but even blogs can be trouble.  During my divorce I was tempted to use it as a platform to do more than keep friends informed.  I learned a big lesson during that time.

What am I getting at?  Well along comes Twitter with the question, "What are you doing?" OK, cool.  But frankly I really don't need to know my friend's every move.  I don't follow many people on twitter either.  It's hard following what people do with their life and what motivates them.

In response to that I penned this article for PCM Magazine.  Enjoy…

TO TWEET ON TWITTER DON’T BE A TWIT

Are you a Twitter? You know - the site that allows you answer that life pressing question, What are you doing? to your friends, family and colleagues.  (Oh… and you have to tell it in 140 characters or less.)  The question you should ask yourself before tweeting is however, Does it matter what I’m doing?  or Do people want to know what I’m doing?

View Article  Superman's Super Legal Battle: Who Owns SuperMan?

Quick, what is the one thing that can do in Superman? It's not kryptonite. Try either time or an attorney.

Truth is always stranger than fiction and there is a strange but true legal battle going on now between the owners of Superman and creators of Superman even though the actual creators are now deceased.

It's an all American story that started out of Cleveland Ohio.  In 1933 two high school boys named Joseph Shuster and Jerome Siegel created a fictional "super hero".   A few years later in 1938, those two boys were now working for National Allied Publications which later became Detective Comics.   That year they somehow either made a foolish decision, were misled or outright duped into selling the rights of their character to National for $130.00. They assert a judge at the time considered money owed to them for their first Superman story (the $130.00) to be payment for the character.   That's another story.

Even by modern standards with adjustments for inflation etc... this was not a big sale and you'd think a judge would weigh that factor into a decision.   Over time Shuster and Siegel got a lot of "trust me" responses from their bosses and publishers and they were in fact kids trying to stand up to bully businessmen.  That too is another story.  Eventually they left the publication sued, lost their claim to the character, but settled for $94,000.00.

Each court loss set the table for public sympathy in years to come.  After all, the creators of Superman deserved more than $130.00 for a character which proved to be one of the most if not the most identifiable story character in modern history.  Years wore on; neither man could match their accomplishment of Superman in future work. They fought on and years of legal ...   more »

View Article  For Who The Bomb Tolls
There is a time bomb ticking away on the Internet surrounding the question every online news provider is asking. "How do we get paid?" You see, the fact is few online news organizations make any revenue outside of display ads. Due to the nature of providers being compensated for display ads by click thru impressions, almost ALL online news organizations are losing money. Even average Joe Blogger wishes he could make a buck off his hour's long researched article written for who knows how many readers.

For some time online publishers have not asked you to "Pay" but instead asked you to "Pay Attention" and click on display ads. If you enjoy a web site and visit it routinely, you owe it to them to pay attention as display ads are finely tuned to your interests.

The time bomb is ticking away. What will the explosion be? The major news outlets want it to be the day you can't surf the Internet for news without paying for it. For print news publications with an online presence it goes beyond the question of "Will you pay?" to "How much will you pay?"

How can that happen? Well it can only happen effectively if EVERYONE commits to this plan at the same time. In illegal business circles this is known as collusion. You know …when various rival businesses all secretly work together on fixing a price so you the consumer can't do a thing about it. But when you are Rupert Murdoch the owner of News Corp, you own all the rival publications (Fox News - NY Post - Wall Street Journal - The Sun, The Times, Daily Telegraph - Times of London etc and over 30 more), you don't call it collusion you call it an "offensive model".

With the Halo movie on indefinite hold due to budget constraints it looks like the Halo fans will just have to make do with District 9.  District 9 is based off a short independent movie from back in 2005 by Neill Blomkamp called Alive in Joburg which is a documentary (fictional of course) about humans and space aliens revisiting the apartheid issues of the past. Here is below:

Peter Jackson is producing and of course his cronies at Weta Workshop are handling the special effects.    The plot is actually a mystery.  One just can't help but wonder if this is Halo in disguise.  After all Halo's Earth setting is based in South Africa (New Mombasa).

View Article  Did the New Star Wars Suck?
It's a question many people have raised since the Phantom Menace and the appearance of Jar Jar Binks.  Does the the New Star Wars suck?  A new documentary asks that very question.

Yes, an entire contingent of dedicated fans and critics have assembled to put George Lucas on trial in "The People Vs George Lucas".

Now when I first saw this, I thought, "My God do we have to discuss Jar Jar Binks again."  I mean in my opinion the movies are done.  It is what it is.  All we can do now is accept the story for what it is.  And really people... these movies were not made for 20 year olds, or 40 year olds.  They were made for kids.  That is the funny thing about all this.  We grew up loving Star Wars but we lost sight of why.  We were kids and it was never that hard to accept the world of Star Wars when you are a young boy or girl.

But... hey.  As a grown, up I had to notice the flaws.  If you pushed me for my opinion.  I have some.

For instance, how about developing characters?  Darth Maul?.. offers nothing.  He shows up; looks angry and menacing, fights and dies.  What is with that?  I felt no real reason to fear this character, no appreciation for why he used a double-sided light-saber or any connection with him as a truly villianous character.

Then my big problem that held the remaining two movies back...  Hayden Christensen can't act.  The whining he did as a petulant Anakin Skywalker makes me want to fast forward any time he goes into that bit during the films.  I prayed Lucas would force him into some sorty of heavy duty acting clinic after Episode One.  ...   more »

Well, the headline says it all folks.  In this Times Online article, Wall Street Broker and former Nasdaq Chairman Bernard Madoff is about to (actually already has) screw countless New York socialites out of potentially everything they have.  Madoff had been pulling off a stunning years old Ponzi scheme that has reached over $50 billion dollars.  I don't care what era you are in folks, $50 billion dollars is a staggering amount of money to bilk.

What is a Ponzi scheme?  It's like a pyramid scheme.  It operates within the investment world where people hand over their money out of greed.  They are promised they will get an abnormally high return on their investment.  Many early investors do get a large return on the money they entrust to the perceived arbitrage because it temporarily succeeds by way of the pyramid scheme concept.  People early on get their money back as promised because ...    more »

View Article  Joey Satriani verses Coldplay

There is a saying, "Good artist copy, Great artist steal."  Sounds like someone trying to justify their behavior eh?  Well before I tell you who said that, consider this story...

Recently Joey Satriani has filed a law suit against Coldplay for stealing a musical sound; tantamount to plagiarism .  He's suing for any and all profits. The song in question is Viva La Vida. The question is now did Coldplay lift Joey Satriani's (IV V I vi) chord progression as Chris Martin's harmonic  (C,D,G,E) vocal melody for Viva La Vida?  It's almost a full measure (7 notes) which will most likely make it to court as the melodic line in question and diatonic chord progression are virtually the same.  While its not in the same key, the tempo is not exact but close enough which lend to the rhythms sounding similar.  Yet the four chords in Viva La Vida do match If I Could Fly.

AND THE GRAMMY GOES TO...
Coldplay is up for a grammy this year and Viva La Vida is a big reason. I'm certain I don't need to link to that video.  So let's just allow you to cross reference on your own to Joey's Satriani's 2004 instrumental If I Could Fly. Bear with it until it reaches approximately the 49 second point. What you should hear will take you to the 1:19 second point.

For a side by side comparison while BOTH SONG'S PLAY (overlap) AT THE SAME TIME... Wow... check out this comparison video:

So who does the famous quote of "Good artist copy, great artist steal." belong to?

None other than renowned artist, painter Pablo Picasso.

What does that mean?  To me it means Coldplay improved on Satriani's melody.

The question is will he remain dead?   If you are at all familiar with how comic book publishers operate, they have a tendency to undo what they do after doing it.  Case in point,  the perpetrator is Batman's father. But wait! He's dead! Isn't he? Well, no. Not now. He faked it according to the latest story line.

The not really dead or faked death device is really a hackneyed story line creating cynics of every reader.  We readers will read the entire story, waiting and expecting to find out at the end, that this man claiming to be Batman's father isn't, and/or Batman never really died; that he too faked death.  Perhaps in an effort to have readers suspend cynicism and accept this news as permanent truth the current writers at DC insist Batman really is dead and that his mantle will be taken over by one of his Protégé’s. "This is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman" says Grant Morrison of DC.  Potential replacements are Dick Grayson (the first Robin) whom is now Nightwing or the current Robin, Tim Drake. You may recall the second Robin was killed by the Joker. I think he's really still dead. Unless he is actually alive. Some believe he was thrown in the Lazarus Pit (brings you back to life with negative results) and is now the dark character Hush.

View Article  The Legendary Loop Night - Wilmington Delaware's Halloween Loop

In the world, there are places to be certain times of the year.  New Orleans and Rio de Janeiro bring to mind Mardi Gras.  Germany has Octoberfest, Black Rock City has Burning Man, Pamplona as Running of the Bulls, Wilmington Delaware has the Halloween Loop.

Loop Night 2009 Review

Wilmington Delaware doesn't play second to any city on Halloween.   Each year downtown Wilmington becomes party central for the over 21 crowd.   Never to be missed, this is a life experience you can't just show up to, you must participate or experience the embarrassment of being the only person on the planet to show up without a costume.   What happens on Loop Night?  Starting at 8pm the conservative stuffy banking town of Wilmington is born again.   Buses drive in a loop around Wilmington's preeminent bars.  You pay for a wristband at any bar and from there you get all night access to the buses and bars they hit.

You could spend all night trying to hit every bar, but you better start early.  In fact, you should start before the buses begin at the bar you want to finish at; subsequently you start at it.  When you finish, you most likely will have reached closing time.

This year was a big treat.  With the Phillies making it to the World Series and not only were people attending bars for great music and dance, they were rooting on the Phillies.  Roars could be heard when Ryan Howard finally hit his own World Series homerun.   I wore my Spider-Man costume but couldn't help but top it off with my Phillie's cap.  I ended up losing my mask and wearing my hat with the costume.  Also this year was the year of Sarah Palin, the Governer of Alaska asked to be the Vice Presidential running mate to John McCain.  I'm seen in photo at upper left  with the best Sara Palin I could find for the evening.  Amazing hair and endearing, she Like most loop-nighters talked in character.

View Article  Text messaging blunders, mistakes and the embrassment

Have you ever text messaged the wrong person?  Ever heard of "textual harassment" or "texting while intoxicated"?  If not, read on.  You'll get a kick out of this.

I first wanted to write an article only about text messaging the wrong person after learning I am not the only person having text messaged the wrong person.  I'll get to that. However this is a topic that goes beyond this one blunder.  So let's explore...

ACCIDENTALLY CALLING THE WRONG PERSON

For me it all started when I acquired my first PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) phone.   These phones have large touch screens and locking software is frankly a pain in most cases.   Inevitably the phone would dial back in error anyone I was on the phone with last.  This happened from time to time and usually it was my wife.  WAS.  LOL.

Nooooo!  I never spoke to anyone I shouldn't be talking to, don't go assuming too much.  The only story there is that I was annoyed by my phone.  There is this one time when I was out to lunch with a friend from high-school, and old band buddy.  We were catching up at nice sit down restaurant.  My phone called my wife while it was on the table!  Later she told me, "You idiot, you left a 20 minute voice mail at my office!"    You'd think the joke ends there. She went on because she was angry, not pissed, but angry.   Yes ladies and gentlemen my wife heard me speak things she should not have heard.   And no I didn't speak ill of her.   I recall telling my friend that my wife didn't know me.  We were talking about how she angrily told me once she didn't want to know about my past life before her and I had to put all my photos of ...   more »
